The FMLA and You

General.

There are a number of publications that address various elements in the administration of the FMLA as well as answering general questions that may be of concern to the employee. Some of these publications originate with the Department of Labor, some from various Unions and the Agency. I would suggest that you read these publications for a general overview of the FMLA and its application to you.

The primary publication utilized in the administration of the FMLA is WH Publication 1419, April 1995, Title 29, Part 825 of the Code of Federal Regulations, The Family Medical Leave Act of 1993. This publication contains comments made by different organizations, as well as the "final rules" that took effect on April 6, 1995. To view the regulation on the Internet, and the corresponding statutes, check out the web links listed below.
