The Titles of the FMLA.

There are different Titles to the FMLA. Those Titles are as follows:

Title I: Applies to private sector employers of 50 or more employees, public agencies, and certain Federal employers and entities to include the U.S. Postal Service and Postal Rate Commission.

Title II: Applies to most other Federal civil service employees who are covered by the annual and sick leave system, plus certain other employees covered by other Federal leave systems.

Title III: Establishes a temporary "Commission on Leave".

Title IV: Contains miscellaneous provisions, including rules governing the effect of the Act on more generous leave policies, other laws, and existing employment benefits.

Title V: Extends similar leave provisions to certain employees of the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.

The applicable regulations that implement Title I can be found at Title 29, Part 825, of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) which is derived from Title 29, USCS, Chapter 28, Section 2611-2651. Title I allows remedies with either the Department of Labor, or the Federal Courts. Title II does not allow for a remedy in Federal Court.
